MWINJA DIVINE HELP FOUNDATION LIMITED is a Refugee Led organization created in 2023 in Kampala, Uganda.

It was founded in response to the increasing social, economic, and protection issues that refugees and host communities face. The organization works in areas where poverty, unemployment, juvenile delinquency, and inequality are prevalent, and vulnerable groups—particularly women and children—face increased risks of marginalization, violence, and financial difficulties.

MWINJA DIVINE HELP FOUNDATION LIMITED is a non-profit organization dedicated to humanitarian causes and social development. It is characterized by charity, compassion and solidarity.

The organization does not limit itself to social work but also includes socio-cultural, economic and financial aspects, as well as development activities.

To create a world where refugees and low-income host communities are socially and economically empowered and actively participate in community development.

Our Mission

  1. Promote emotional healing and mental well-being by creating safe and supportive spaces for individuals experiencing trauma and depression, encouraging reflection, exploring diverse paths to healing, and fostering personal growth, resilience, and hope.
  2. Educate and guide vulnerable people to access humanitarian services for their psychosocial, legal and judicial wellbeing.
  1. Bring vulnerable individuals together and encourage them to engage socially and participle in community initiatives.
  2. Create a world where every individual can cultivate harmony, peace and love, especially toward vulnerable person.

The Uganda Context

Uganda hosts approximately 1.96 million refugees and asylum seekers as of October 2025—the largest refugee population in Africa. With 55% from South Sudan and 31% from the Democratic Republic of Congo, the country demonstrates remarkable hospitality through its progressive refugee policies.

However, urban refugees in Kampala face unique challenges. Of the 157,803 refugees in Kampala, many live-in crowded conditions alongside the urban poor, facing limited funding, insufficient livelihood opportunities, language barriers, and inadequate healthcare access despite the Government’s expectation for self-reliance.
